Elegant. Luxurious. Top Quality.
These are just three of the words used to describe a pair of Capezio Dance Shoes. Any one in ballet, broadway, or theater will attest to the quality and one of a kind comfort provided by these shoes. Capezio Dance Shoes first started in New York City in the year 1887. It was founded by an Italian shoe cobbler named Salvatore Capezio. Since his shop was located right across the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City, most of his clients were either ballet, tap, or jazz dancers.
His passion for shoes and sincere devotion to theater and dance drove him to design and create shoes which would be kind to a dancer’s feet. Long hours of practice meant the materials had to be strong and durable, but more importantly the shoes had to provide support and comfort. In 1910, after purchasing pairs of Capezio pointe shoes for herself and her entire dance company, Anna Pavlova, who is hailed as one of the best classical ballet dancers in history, heaped lavish praise on Salvatore Capezio’s shoemaking skill.
And the rest, they say, is history. Salvatore Capezio’s craft is continued to this day by members of his family. The legacy of excellence lives on in each pair of Capezio dance shoes.
